DESCRIPTION:PLEASE SHAREMagical Night to be “Drive-Through” Event\n  \nThe outside of the First Street Community Center will be lighted with holiday decorations.  On the east side\, of the front side walk\, Matt Siders will be handing out a bag with cookies and cookie decorations.  Also included in the bag will be a list of Mount Vernon shops and their shop hours during December. On the west side\, in front of the large red sun\, actors from the Mount Vernon/Lisbon Community Theatre will be singing and having fun with characters from “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”.\n\n  \n \nDance Arts Iowa will be performing scenes from the Nutcracker live in the front window of the Palisades Café.\n\nFirst Street will be lined with 1000 luminaries\, as well as window decorations and the community’s growing list of animatronics set up in the storefront windows of individual business.\nThe route will go from the First Street Community Center at the East side of 1st Street up to the Cornell College on the west side with a turnaround at Commons Circle to allow families in cars to see both sides of the street.\nChildren are encouraged to write a letter to Santa and deliver it to Santa and Mrs. Claus directly from the window of the family car into a special mailbox at Mount Vernon Bank and Trust.\n\nThe event will not include indoor activities this year due to safety concerns\, and parking will not be allowed along the 1st Street route.\nThe First Street Community Center parking lot will be closed to the public.  There will be no public traffic in First Street Community Center and shops will not be open.\nPLEASE SHARE
