PLEASE SHARE

The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Theatre (MVLCT) will be having auditions for their production of Middletown, by Will Eno on January 15 and 16, 2017, in Mount Vernon’s First Street Community Center on the Uptown Theatre stage.

Auditions will be held both nights starting at 7pm.

Direct from the MVLCT.com website:

… We are looking for actors as well as technical crew–so if you are interested, please stop by on either night!

Middletown is a quirky dark comedy that explores the somewhat bizarre universe of small town America, and, of course, existential dread and all the accumulated experiences that make our “lives” what they are. Folks that have great comedic timing and understand script text that is very conversational and “back-and-forth” will be perfect for any of these roles…

Visit MVLCT.com for information about the play, the possible roles for this performance, access to a portion of the script, and more information!

Twins separated at sea! Cross-dressing! Servants and fools in charge! No one knows how to stage an Upstairs, Downstairs kind of dramedy like William Shakespeare.

The First Street Community Center’s Uptown Theatre is pleased to announce performance dates for The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Theatre’s production of William Shakespeare’s comedy “Twelfth Night, or What You Will”.

The play centres on the twins Viola and Sebastian, who are separated in a shipwreck. Viola loses contact with her twin brother, Sebastian, whom she believes to be drowned.

Disguising herself as a young man and is called ‘Cesario’, as such she enters the service of Duke Orsino. Duke Orsino then uses ‘Cesario’ as an intermediary to profess his passionate love before Olivia.

Olivia, however, falls in love with ‘Cesario’, as she does not realize the Duke’s messenger is a woman in disguise. In the meantime, Viola has fallen in love with the Duke Orsino.

Meanwhile, Sebastian, who also survived the shipwreck, arrives on the scene, to add confusion and a bit of mayhem that must be seen and enjoyed in person.

A cast and crew of dedicated artists and actors from throughout the cultural corridor will perform at the Uptown Theatre on July 21-23 at 7:30 PM and on July 24 at 2 PM.

Mt. Vernon-Lisbon Community Theatre’s summer production of Twelfth Night will be the first of Shakespeare’s plays staged by the local group. (Julius Caesar was produced by Open Arenas Theatre in Mt. Vernon in 2012.)

Tickets are $12 and may be reserved by calling 319-535-2030.

Are You Coming to Dinner?

PLEASE SHARE

Get out of hibernation!  Come on over to the First Street Community Center’s Uptown Theatre and enjoy a hilarious comedy put on by the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Theatre.

The stage is set. The actors, producers, directors, stage crew and everyone else is working feverishly to make this challenging production one of the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Theatre’s best.

The Man Who Came to Dinner, is a comedy in three acts by Moss Hart & George S. Kaufman.   Performances start this Thursday, March 5th at 7:30pm. The show has additional performances Friday, March 6th and Saturday, March 7th also at 7:30pm with a Sunday, March 8th 2pm matinee.

Set in the 1930’s in a small Ohio town during the Christmas holiday season. Our wealthy host has invited a more than slightly “full of himself” radio personality Sheridan Whiteside (aka: ‘Sherry’) over for dinner…

This show has it all! There are penguins, an octopus, convicts, an old friend tries to break up a new romance, someone gets stuffed into a mummy case and flown out of town to be a part of an exhibit going on a tour of the world, there’s even blackmail centered around a certain murderer hiding in plain site. All of this, because Sheridan Whiteside came to dinner, fell on the ice and injured his hip.

Moral of this story, be careful who you invite over to dinner.

Tickets are $12 for Adults, $10 for Students and Seniors. Tickets are on sale at CarePro Pharmacy in Mount Vernon and the Lisbon Public Library.

Call (319) 535-2030 to reserve your tickets today!
