The East End Art Gallery is having it’s official “Grand Opening” this Saturday during Chocolate Stroll. In keeping with the chocolate theme the gallery will be unveiling their edible art: “Croustille de Chocolat” – or as Google translate will tell you: “Chocolate dipped potato chips!”
East End Art will be open 10am – 5pm on Saturday and will be registering people to win a $50 gift certificate to the East End Art Gallery.

The Mount Vernon First Street Community Center includes an eclectic blend of retail shops (collectively called Old School Shops), service businesses, community room, a gymnasium, and fitness opportunities.
The First Street Community Center also includes a representation of the arts with a theatre, a free lending library, and a dance studio.
Through the hard work and generosity of many, the Uptown Theatre was created and is the home of the Mount Vernon/Lisbon Community Theatre plus a venue for a variety of performances.
The free lending library offers a diverse collection of books to take home or to read at your leisure in the library.
Dance Arts Iowa offers a variety of dance classes from Irish Step to Ballet, available to all ages.
This Spring the First Street Community Center will be expanding its presence in the Mount Vernon/Lisbon community with the opening of an art gallery:
East End Art, located on the second floor of the First Street Community Center. The intent is to bookend First Brick Art Gallery located at the west end of Main Street with the East End Art gallery, establishing Mount Vernon as an art destination by promoting three blocks to shop between the galleries.
Artists working in any medium are welcome to submit their work to East End Art for jurying during the month of March for the spring opening of the gallery.
