We are coming back to the stage. Our first gig will be Saturday, May 11th, @7:30-9:30pm at the First Street Community Center in Mount Vernon.
We are Iowa’s Beatles tribute band. We didn’t try to look like the Beatles. We just wanted to sound like them. Our fans say we succeeded!
Tickets are on sale now and going like hot cakes. They are $15 each and you can get them at Bauman & Co on the corner of 1st St. W and 2nd Ave N in Mt. Vernon and ask for Mike Smith or call him at (319) 361-8193.
Bring your own refreshments. The only requirement is that you use the tip-proof cup sold by the Community Center for $5 which is yours to take home and reuse at a later date.
A Saskatoon native transplanted to the Niagara Region of Ontario, Suzie Vinnick is the proud owner of a gorgeous voice, prodigious guitar and bass chops, and an engagingly candid performance style.

Suzie achieved finalist status in the Solo/Duo Category at the 2013 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN; received the 2012 CBC Saturday Night Blues Great Canadian Blues Award and the 2012 Sirius XM Canada Blues Artist of the Year. Suzie has won 10 Maple Blues Awards (she has been nominated for 22 so far!), won the 2011 Canadian Folk Music Award for Contemporary Vocalist of the Year and is a 3X Juno Nominee.
Suzie has toured nationally with Stuart McLean’s The Vinyl Café and the John McDermott Band, and performed for Canadian Peacekeepers in Bosnia and the Persian Gulf. She was also the voice of Tim Horton’s for 5 years.
Serving up a set where it shows she’s a long way from getting jaded and losing her mojo, this girl most likely to…has more chops than the meat department at the Costco warehouse. Blues, folk, rock? She’s got a toe in all those waters and handles them all with the ease of wrapping them around her little finger. A real blast of fresh air, this set hit’s the target every timeout. Killer stuff throughout. – Midwest Record

With roots all over North America The Malvina’s are a feminine and feminist FOLK trio with a seriously original sound. They are Gina Forsyth, Lisa Markley, and Beth Cahill. Each a solo artist, they play guitar, mandolin, fiddle, banjo. They rock with killer harmonies and a veritable smorgasbord of contemporary and traditional compositions that have you coming back for more.
About their recent album “God Bless the Grass”
There is a distinct strength in women’s music and they tap into it brilliantly. Women with wide ranging influences…The Malvinas are serious and playful, often in the same song…The title cut “God Bless the Grass” was written by the trio’s namesake, Malvina Reynolds, in 1964. It is as poignant today as it was then with these lyrics: “God bless the truth that fights toward the sun.” One of the most fully realized folk albums of the first half of the year.
