The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group will be offering a November “Music on Main” concert event. The First Street Community Center’s Uptown Theatre will host the Eddie Piccard Jazz Quartet – “All That Jazz”, with two special guest performers, Craig Dove on Bass and featuring songstress D. Pittam. Bring your favorite beverage (wine, beer, pop) and buy a theater cup for $5.
“We had such a great time last November,” Piccard said. “We’re excited to be back in this venue with a new program.”
The Quartet plays all temperatures of jazz from hot traditional favorites, to cool Shearing melodies, with warm Latin tunes in between. The group—Eddie on piano and vocals, Craig Dove on bass, Jon Wilson on drums, and Rich Martin on vibes will be joined by vocalist D. Pittam.
Eddie spent several years performing in jazz clubs in Chicago, on the west coast, and in Florida before returning home to Cedar Rapids to open his own Club Jazz. This popular night spot featured Eddie’s trio and as well as acclaimed jazz artists from coast to coast.
Jon Wilson has been playing drums since he was four years old. Rock music was his first influence; but he soon discovered the great jazz drummers, such as Buddy Rich and Sonny Payne. At age 16 Jon was touring Europe with a big band.
Craig Dove (bass) is an accomplished singer and piano stylist and a solid base player with an impeccable sense of rhythm. He’s appeared with various groups, including his own Craig Dove Trio, all over eastern Iowa.
Jazz is a lifelong love for Rich Martin. A drummer and vibist in college, he began sitting in with Eddie’s trio twelve years ago, while still teaching at Cornell College. He’s has since become a full time member of the group.
Vocalist D. Pittam has many fans in eastern Iowa. A member of the group Polyester Blend, she’s appeared at the Riverside Casino and other gathering spots in the Corridor.
