Free Kids Music and Puppet Show by Balderdash Ditty – Saturday, December 17th, 2016

Kicking off a series of monthly kids puppet shows, Balderdash Ditty will be performing FREE for kids on Saturday December 17th, there will be 2 shows: 10:30am and 11:30am in the Uptown Theatre.  Come join the fun!

The shows will feature performances by Balderdash Ditty, which is composed of Mount Vernon residents Dale Beeks, Kim Benesh, Braden Rood and Emily Beeks.

The presentation will be interactive, based on a theme, with music and puppets for children accompanied by an adult.

This series of shows will be performed on the third Saturday of each month through April. There will be two performances each day, at 10:30 and 11:30 am.

Dates of upcoming shows are Dec. 17, Jan. 21, Feb. 18, March 18, and April 15.

MVAAC LogoThe Mount Vernon Area Arts Council presents ‘Music on Saturday’s’ at the First Street Community Center in Mount Vernon, Iowa.  Performances are FREE and open to the public. We will start on Saturday, February 6th.  Performances will be from 11 – 1 pm.

The musicians will be performing live music in the hallway area(s) to entertain you while you browse.

Bring your friends and family and stop over.  Escape the cold February weather and enjoy some wonderful music!

MVAAC – Winter Potluck, Concert & Fundraiser – Feb. 6

MVAAC Winter Fundraiser

The First Street Community Center in Mount Vernon, Iowa is hosting the Mount Vernon Area Arts Council’s Annual Winter Potluck, Concert & Fundraiser on February 6th.

The potluck starts at 5:30pm in the Library, followed by a concert at 7:00pm in the Uptown Theatre.

The concert features two musical groups:

Deep Dish Divas
The Awful Purdies

Bring your families, bring your friends, BYOB, and bring a dish to share at the potluck. Pulled pork will be provided, however, you are encouraged to bring a side dish or two to share with everyone else.

Don’t forget, this is a fundraiser. So, if after all of this great food and incredible entertainment you are in the mood to donate $$ to help support the wonderful programs the MVAAC puts on throughout the year – bring your wallet too! A suggested donation of $10 is what their poster says. I don’t think they’d mind if you gave a little more or even a little less, whatever you can afford will help.
